Michael John Noamesi
Hi! I'm Michael. I do Physics, Mathematics and CS at Gettysburg College. I build software for experimental particle physics — most recently hq, a task queue for High Energy Physics analysis, as an IRIS-HEP fellow.

Arrow keys move between nodes: left and right around a ring, up and down between rings. Home returns to the centre. Enter selects a node; Escape clears the selection.
Projects
personal-os
A mock operating system that runs in the browser — a kernel, a window manager, a shell with thirty-two commands, and seven apps. You can boot it from here.
hq (hep-queue)
A pull-based task queue for particle physics analysis. I gave it TLS, a way to return results, and a coffea executor, then ran a CMS(CMS Open Data ttbar) analysis on it.
The Professor (Academic Explainer)
A VS Code extension that explains your selected code four different ways, backed by Gemini. Three days, three people, and won the First Hack Category at YCP Hacks 2025.
TreeViz
A Python CLI for walking directory trees that are too large or too broken for the usual tools — symlink loops, permission errors, dead links — with an interactive terminal UI.
NanoGlide
A wearable gyroscope module that turns hand tilt into drive commands for a small vehicle, sent over Bluetooth.

A Pull-Based Task Distribution System for HEP Analysis
IRIS-HEP Fellows Final Presentations
Coffea integration and validation of hq on the Analysis Grand Challenge — the closing talk of my IRIS-HEP fellowship.
dE/dx Estimator Optimization for Anomalous Ionization Searches
APS Mid-Atlantic Section Meeting · Penn State Harrisburg, Middletown PA
A poster on the Fermilab dE/dx work, presented at the APS Mid-Atlantic Section meeting at Penn State Harrisburg.
Improving searches for long lived heavy ionizing particles
USCMS Undergraduate Summer Internship 2025 · Fermilab, Batavia IL
The closing talk of my US-CMS summer internship at Fermilab, on sharpening the ionization estimate that a heavy particle's mass is reconstructed from.
